Let me paint you my picture with words
stretching the canvas of paper
laying out the pallet of colorful lexicon
my pens the lovely brushes
ahh, not complete without the water
to wash and blend
Bring my mind to the task I wash in the first word
my pen moves faster now that there is color to see
looking up to the sky at clouds, inspiration takes me
I see a flash of movement and the words come to life
the painted poem half finished I now stand back and look
repaint over words that don’t fit and darken ones that do
movement slows now for I know I am through
there is nothing more I can say or do
knowing the hardest part though is yet to come
to let others gaze and contemplate my painting of love
You can now hear me recite poetry at Authorsden.com
